Project Summary:

This DSIR-supported report examines the role of Indian universities and their incubation ecosystems in promoting science and technology innovation among women. Based on data from 14 universities and insights from over 400 women innovators, it analyzes how institutional support translates into real outcomes. While women’s participation is rising, regional disparities persist—southern zones lead in women-led startups, while eastern and northeastern zones show stronger internal engagement. The study highlights key gaps in mentorship, funding access, post-commercialization support, and integration with public procurement, along with barriers like limited exposure and urban-centric resources.
