As part of Deeksharambh 2026, the Department of Marine Science, in collaboration with Arts Planet, Kochi, successfully conducted the Sustainability Workshop Series for students of the School of Computer Science & IT and the School of Computer Science and Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Kochi.
The series featured hands-on workshops in Cardboard Art and Recycled Wood Art, encouraging students to transform discarded materials into creative works through the principles of reuse and upcycling. Using cardboard packaging, reclaimed wood, wood offcuts, and reusable materials such as screws, nuts, bolts, bottle caps, washers, twigs, and other discarded accessories, participants explored innovative ways to repurpose waste into meaningful creations.
By integrating artistic expression with AI-powered creative tools and collaborative learning, students developed original design concepts while strengthening creativity, design thinking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The workshops also reinforced environmental responsibility and highlighted the importance of sustainable innovation and the circular economy.
The Sustainability Workshop Series reflected JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Kochi’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible innovators, inspiring students to see everyday waste as a valuable resource and creativity as a powerful catalyst for building a more sustainable future.
