‘No Entry’ Anti-Drug Campaign Launched in Ernakulam Constituency
Kochi: In a significant step towards building a drug-free society, Member of Parliament Hibi Eden officially launched the ‘No Entry’ anti-drug campaign in the Ernakulam parliamentary constituency as part of the Substance Abuse Free Environment Village (SAFE) project. The launch event took place at the Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology auditorium in Kakkanad.
Renowned actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, the brand ambassador of the initiative, inaugurated the campaign, which is a collaborative effort by the Fourth Wave Foundation’s ‘Venda’ project, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s Future Kerala Mission, the Kochi Corporation, six municipalities, and 24 panchayats in the region.
During the launch, MP Hibi Eden emphasized that ‘No Entry’ is more than a slogan—it's a pledge to safeguard our homes, institutions, and neighborhoods. “Not in my body. Not in my life. Not in my home. Not in my neighbourhood. This is our collective stand against drugs,” he said.
The campaign is primarily focused on educational institutions, with volunteers conducting a detailed mapping of a five-kilometre radius around each school. Awareness drives have already begun in collaboration with residents' associations and Kudumbashree workers, aiming to involve the community in proactive prevention efforts.
C C Joseph, Director of the Fourth Wave Foundation, noted the significant impact of the SAFE project over the past decade, having gained national and international recognition. “This new phase will deepen awareness at the grassroots level through education, localized campaigns, and the establishment of anti-drug cells,” he added.
Dr. Tom Joseph, Director at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), highlighted the importance of empowering institutions and communities. “This campaign positions educational spaces and local bodies as front-line defenders in the ongoing fight against substance abuse,” he remarked.
The launch marked a powerful beginning to a renewed mission of community resilience and youth empowerment in the fight against drug abuse.
